Ebay Scam or Confirmation of Account Information Schemes

Have you received the letter from Ebay asking you to confirm your account information? It looks legal. It sounds legite. It is a fraud.

Sometimes it is difficult to know what is real and what is not. In the case of the Ebay letter, they ask you to click on the link provided, but look close. The words that are the link are not the link at all. It actually takes you to a site set up by thieves to steal your identity. While you think you are logging into Ebay's site to confirm your account, you are actually logging into a computer and giving your information to them.

There are many variations to this scheme. Please be careful. Never give out information to anyone unknown.

Remember, reputable companies will NEVER ask you to provide security details via such means - if in doubt, be safe and ask first.
